Computer Science Features

Introductory Courses for Freshmen 

  • Programming 1 is the first course taken in our primary sequence of coding courses. It is an introductory course and requires no prior experience or knowledge of coding.

  • Game Programming is a fun, introductory course in which students create and play computer games. Students must complete Programming 1 before taking Game Programming.

  • IT Fundamentals is a broad course that covers the basics of computers, including operating systems, hardware, software, networking, databases, and cybersecurity.

  • Web Design 1 is a course that attracts many students, from tech students to art students. Students will create all kinds of web pages, including business web pages and personal-interest web pages.

Computer Science Courses for All

  • AP Computer Science "A" – a more programming-centric course than APCSP 

  • AP Computer Science Principles

  • Cybersecurity 1 and 2

  • Game Programming - successful completion of Programming 1 is a required prerequisite.

  • IT Fundamentals

  • Oracle Database Academy – database design and SQL programming

  • Programming 1 and 2  

  • Web Design 1 and 2

Test Certifications Available to Pine Creek Students:

All certification exams will be free or at a nominal fee for students who take the corresponding tech course at Pine Creek. 

 Related Clubs and Activities

  • CyberPatriot - This competitive club inspires students to pursue careers in cybersecurity or other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines.

  • eSports - Our very popular and new electronic sports team gets students engaged and involved in competitive gaming.

  • National Technical Honor Society - This honor society recognizes our high-achieving tech students; students can apply for the NTHS after their freshman year.

  • Rocky Mountain Robotics - Many Pine Creek tech, math, and science students are on D20’s robotics team and our students currently hold five of eight officer leadership positions on the team.
