Results from the War Horse Invitational - Girls Wrestling
Academy District 20 has a district-wide Girls Wrestling team available through Discovery Canyon Campus High School (DCCHS). Pine Creek has two wrestlers on the district team: Adrianna Lopez and Victoria Guinard.
Both Victoria and Adrianna won the tournament at their weight class! Victoria remains the #1 ranked wrestler in the state at 155 pounds and Adrianna is the #3 ranked at 135 pounds.
Victoria was named Wrestler of the Week at this event for being both an amazing wrestler on the mat as well as a fantastic student, teammate, and family member off the mat!
Results from the Rocky Welton Invitational - Boys Varsity
Pine Creek Varsity Wrestling won the Rocky Welton Invitational team title, beating the #1 ranked team in Colorado 4A and the overall #1 ranked team in Kansas. This is the second time the team has won this tournament since 2010. Five states were represented at this tournament.

About Team Leadership and Head Coach, Billy Gabel
The Pine Creek High School Boys Wrestling Team is in its 22nd year under the direction of Head Coach, Billy Gabel.
Coach Gabel started wrestling at the age of three with guidance from his dad, Larry Gabel, who was a high school head wrestling coach and ran a wrestling club for kids.
Larry Gabel has been inducted into the Kansas Wrestling Hall of Fame, the Kansas Coaches Fall of Fame, and recently was inducted into the National Coaches Hall of Fame for his contributions to the sport of wrestling. In his 32 years as a head wrestling coach he won 6 team state titles and coached 38 individual state champions, 8 two-time state champions, 3 three-time state champions, and one four-time state champion.
Billy Gabel, standing on his father's shoulders, has led Pine Creek Wrestling to claim seven city titles, eleven league titles, eleven regional titles, and team state championships. He has also coached 15 individual state champions as well as wrestlers who have gone on to compete at the Next Level: 10 that wrestled at the United States Air Force Academy, two that wrestled at West Point, two that wrestled for the Merchant Marines, and one Division 1 All-American.
