The Dome, The Supreme Court, and the Judicial Court Building

The value of opportunities to learn inside the school building as well as in the field can never be underestimated as field exploration fosters unique inquiry and interdisciplinary connection.

On Monday students from our talented and gifted program went on a field trip with other D20 students to the Colorado State Capitol, Colorado Supreme Court, and Wings over the Rockies Aviation Museum.

During the field trip, students got to go inside the dome of the Capitol, witness debates in the Colorado House of Representatives as well as the Colorado Senate. Students also got a formal tour of the Judicial Court Building across the street.

“The Supreme Court was incredible to go to!” commented Ava Cothran. Ava found the appointment process for the Colorado Supreme Court interesting. She also mentioned she’d learned that the Colorado Supreme Court travels once a year to hear a civil and criminal case in areas of the state that aren't as populated.

Ian Li also enjoyed visiting the Colorado Supreme Court, but was struck my something different. “I was impressed by the architecture, mostly!” he commented. “I found it a pleasant blend of modern and classical.”

Wings Over the Rockies

Around lunch time the group got to experience the solar eclipse before heading to Wings of the Rockies where they enjoyed touring planes such as the Rockwell B-1 Lancer, the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II, and other favorites.

Go, Eagles!
