Number of Recipients
Last year was our pilot year for the Seal and we awarded it to about 50 seniors.
This year by implementing the AAPPL exam, working with the English department, and coordinating with the Pine Creek Counseling Team, our numbers have almost doubled in just one year with 92 Seniors from the Class of 2024 qualifying for this honor!
Students received a green cord to be worn at graduation. Upon graduating these same students will have a unique golden seal on their transcripts.
What are the advantages of earning the Seal of Biliteracy?
Being awarded the Seal of Biliteracy has many advantages, no matter what path the students take after graduating from Pine Creek. It is a statement of accomplishment to college admissions officials or future employers. Many colleges accept the Seal as college credit. Students who apply for study abroad programs, internships, or jobs have a leg up on other students. Having a high proficiency in more than one language can also often mean higher pay.
