About this Celebration

Last week our French and German National Honor Societies united to celebrate Mardi Gras/Fasching by, among other activities, eating King Cake. “Find the baby (in the cake), and you’re King for the day!” exclaimed German NHS Sponsor, Nathan Frie.

Honor society members also engaged in traditional activities such as mask-making, tie-cutting, and placing “wrongdoings” on the Nubbel (normally a strawman; in our case – an oversized Gingerbread man made of paper). Places to learn more about these traditions include the French and/or German Embassies in Washington D.C.

Happy Fasching/Happy Mardi Gras!

Go, Eagles!
