Show Reflections

As of yesterday, it has been one month since Opening Night for Creek Theatre's 2023 musical, Bye Bye Birdie. The script for the show was inspired by the craze over musician, Elvis Presley, and his being drafted into the Army in 1957. "Performances went exceptionally well!" said Director, Michele Messenger. "The audiences were very receptive and enthusiastic about the performance."

The show opened in the office of lead character, Albert Peterson, a songwriter from New York. Set design for the office was simple-- a phone, table, and desk that backed up to a brick wall. This stood in contrast to the colorful set the audience experienced once the curtain opened. "It was the first time I've ever heard the audience gasp with delight!" Ms. Messenger said.

According to Ms. Messenger, Bye Bye Birdie was the most challenging musical to come to stage since she started working at Pine Creek five years ago, and the cast didn't miss a beat! Each lead's performance was top-notch and the entire cast not only rose to the challenge of the choreography, but also nailed it. "It was just such a memorable musical," Ms. Messenger reflected. "I could NOT have asked for better!"
