Capstone is a College Board program designed to help students stand out in the college admissions process by developing the essential skills needed to succeed in college and in their future careers. Students in these courses follow their passions, build their confidence, and gain a global perspective.​\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Ch2>Recognition\u003C\u002Fh2>\u003Cul>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>Successful completion of AP Seminar and AP Research (by earning a score of three or higher) qualifies a student for the AP Seminar and Research \u003Cstrong>Certificate\u003C\u002Fstrong>.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>Students who have earned the certificate \u003Cem>and\u003C\u002Fem> earn a three or higher on four additional AP Exams throughout their high school careers will achieve the AP Capstone \u003Cstrong>Diploma\u003C\u002Fstrong>—a prestigious distinction endorsed by more than 140 selective colleges and universities for its challenging interdisciplinary curriculum.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003C\u002Ful>\u003Ch2>AP Seminar\u003C\u002Fh2>\u003Cp>In AP Seminar, students learn research techniques and presentation skills necessary for success in the program and college. ​AP Seminar is typically taken in grade 10 as a core English credit. Juniors are also welcome to take AP Seminar, but it is considered a core elective for them, and is taken in addition to, not instead of, their Junior English class.​\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Cp>Students in AP Seminar learn how to: ​\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Col>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>Investigate real-world topics from multiple perspectives​\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>Carefully analyze information, write evidence-based arguments and effectively communicate them​\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli>\u003Cp>Work independently and with a team to research a topic, develop a written report and deliver a presentation​\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fli>\u003C\u002Fol>\u003Cp>The team project is worth 25% of their score, and the individual essay and presentation is worth 35%, for a total of 60% of their score. The other 40% of their score is the end-of-course exam given in May.
