ESL Features

In the Classroom

English Language Learner (ELL) high school students receive dedicated English language instruction through an assigned ESL class. Classes are offered based upon the ELL student’s proficiency in English. Instruction in all classes focuses on developing proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing and is based on the Colorado English Language Proficiency (CELP) standards.

Beyond the ESL Classroom

The ESL teacher also assists other teachers in the school with developing appropriate instructional supports for ELL students to meaningfully access grade-level content. ELL students can also receive direct help from ESL staff members in other academic topics when necessary. The ESL teacher collaborates with counselors to plan the transition from high school into further education or careers.

ESL Faculty

Pine Creek families are encouraged to contact ESL teacher, Marta Panus, with questions about the program.

English as a Second Language (ESL)

The English as a Second Language (ESL) program assists culturally and linguistically diverse students in developing social and academic English proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing that allows for meaningful access to grade level content.
