How to Get Help 

The Academic Support Team and grade level counselor will help find ways to support students who may be struggling. Whenever you're struggling in a class, always start with your teacher who is there to help you be successful. Your grade level counselor is also available to help you strategize and problem-solve. If you struggle in more than one class, please reach out to your counselor who, in partnership with the Academic Support Team, can help find resources to support you 

Academic Supports Available to All 

PAL Lab 

The Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) Lab is available to all students at Pine Creek who need help with math. Whether it is a quick question on a single homework problem or more intensive tutoring in a concept, PAL tutors are here to help! PAL Lab is open every period and during both lunches for both drop-in visit and appointments. In addition to lunch, students can come to PAL during their Study Hall, Guided Study Hall, Academic Support period, or during a Partial Absence. The Lab is also open some mornings before school-check the schedule for specific mornings and times.    

PAL runs under the direction of math teachers, with the assistance of trained student tutors. Students can come in for homework help, quiz and test review, and test retakes in some classes. See your math teacher or stop by the PAL Lab (600s pod) for more information.  

Guided Study Hall 

All Freshmen take one semester of Guided Study Hall class in which they have a close relationships with their teacher who helps them monitor their grades and their progress. Students will also develop organizational strategies, study strategies, and tips for being successful in high school. Students will earn unrestricted elective credit for this study hall. 

Study Hall 

Study Hall: students in grades 10-12 have the opportunity to take study hall which allows them a quiet time and place during the day to do their homework. Popular among our most academically engaged students as well as students who participate in sports and activities, study hall provides a protected time finish homework during the school day. 

Access Saturday 

Access Saturday is a teacher-supported opportunity for students to get caught up, and stay caught up, with homework. For three hours on Saturday morning, students come to Pine Creek for dedicated homework time. Teachers in several content areas are available to answer questions. Space is limited, so please see your grade-level counselor to sign up.
