Pine Creek Educator of the Year
Val Babbitt | #TheTimeIsNow

Please join us in celebrating Val Babbitt, Pine Creek's 2019-2020 Teacher of the Year! "My path was always education," said Ms. Babbitt who discovered her interest in becoming an educator in high school, originally thinking she would focus on elementary-age students, but ultimately deciding to switch to secondary. These days she enjoys balancing the lessons of AP Language classes (all non-fiction) with those in her American and World Literature classes. "What I also really like, particularly at Pine Creek, is that I usually get (the same) kids two years in a row because I teach 10th and 11th grades. For me, that makes a big difference!" Congratulations to PCHS Bookkeeping, Pine Creek's Team of the Year! Congratulations
to Pine Creek's Team of the Year: PCHS Bookkeeping! The PCHS Bookkeeping Team
is comprised of Michele Clark and Carol Harvey who have worked together for the
past four years. "Both Michele and Carol exhibit poise under pressure, are
kind to all who walk into their office, and work well together," a staff
member commented. What can be attributed to their success as a team? "We
have different backgrounds so we are able to share our knowledge," Carol
said. "We bounce ideas off of one another," commented Michele, who
also added that although each of them technically has specific duties, they are
also cross-trained which has helped them assist each other as needed. When not supporting students and staff at
Pine Creek, Michele enjoys hanging out with family, camping, and
scrapbooking. Carol enjoys gardening, hiking, and crafting. When asked
what they liked most about their job, both said, "The people here at PCHS!" (Read about previous award winners >>)

Pine Creek Volunteer of the Year, 2018-2019
Karen Cleary, Pine Creek's Volunteer of the Year has been helping out in schools for the past nine years. "One of the most memorable things I've done was working the Coat Check for Homecoming," Cleary said. "You're there with other parents and teachers and just trying to help kids -- It's total mayhem, at times, but fun!"
In addition to being an active member of Pine Creek's Parent Teacher Partnership (PTP), Karen has also helped with the Pine Creek band, basketball, and volleyball Booster Clubs, been one of the Pine Creek reps for the D20 Parent Sounding Board, served on the Building Committee for the 10 Classroom addition, and led the Pine Creek's Moms in Touch group. "I've enjoyed it all!" Cleary said. "By volunteering you can plug-in and better keep up with what's going on at the school and with your kids!"
