Each year the Boettecher Foundation selects the best and the brightest students to receive this award and provides its recipients with full tuition and fees to attend any school in the state of Colorado.
Pine Creek's Shreya Shrestha, was selected to be one of this year's 42 recipients!
Shreya ('20), who is interested in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology, plans to attend The University of Colorado Boulder in the fall and is looking forward to pursing opportunities to conduct research, be a part of the community, and explore the outdoors. "The Flatirons took my breath away!" she said.
During her time at Pine Creek, Shreya has greatly enjoyed being a part of HOSA - Future Health Professionals. "It definitely shaped my character and helped me stepped up to become a leader." One of Shreya's favorite high school memories was attending the HOSA international conference in Dallas two years ago -- "The opening session was fun, we competed, there were so many good workshops, and I got to discover Dallas with friends! In our free time we rode the train went to museums, and got to go to Six Flags."
When not taking biomed courses, participating in HOSA leadership activities at the local and state level, or selling succulents with the Earth Club, Shreya enjoys reading and baking. During quarantine, Shreya was able to take the time to learn more from her parents about Nepali cooking. "Lentil soup and dumplings are pretty much staples!" she shared.
As Shreya prepares to leave the Pine Creek nest with the rest of the Class of 2020, she has the following advice for incoming freshmen and current underclassmen:
