About Pine Creek

Pine Creek High School is a four-year, comprehensive, public high school and one of three Schools of Innovative Learning and Technology (SILT) in Academy School District 20. Since opening in 1998, Pine Creek has been building a culture of excellence. Eagle Pride is apparent in all we do, from our competitive academic programs, to our championship athletic teams, and our award-winning arts, music, and business programs.

As the district's technology-strand high school, our students and teachers have open access to a variety of technological advancements. Pine Creek is an iPad 1:1 school. Our students use their iPads to research, complete homework assignments, and create multi-media projects for their classes. This seamless integration of technology into the learning experience is just one of the hallmarks of our school.

Performing Arts

Students interested in the arts will find robust and exciting arts programs that have built reputations of excellence throughout the state and local community. The Pine Creek theater program was named Best High School Theater Program by The Colorado Springs Gazette in 2010, and our Production of Xanadu was chosen to perform at the International Thespian Festival in 2015. Our productions of Grease (2012), Anatomy of Gray (2007), and The Odd Couple (2009) earned superior ratings when adjudicated by the Colorado State Thespians.

Students at Pine Creek have an opportunity to participate in our award-winning choir program. Pine Creek offers some of the best choirs in Colorado Springs!  Our choirs have set the highest standard in the state of Colorado as being the only choir program to consistently score Superiors at CHSAA Festivals. They are continually asked to perform at a variety of local events, including a 15-year tradition of singing at the Annual Black Forest Community Tree Lighting. Pine Creek Choirs performed for the Colorado Music Educator's Association in 2017, 2004, 2003, and 2002.

More than 160 students participate in instrumental music, and our instrumental music programs regularly participate in district and state competitions.  The marching band has been a semifinalist band for the past two years, making it to the state festival for nine years in a row. The jazz ensemble, jazz combo, and orchestra have travelled to Grand Junction to participate in the Colorado West Music Festival, earning Excellent and Superior ratings. Pine Creek Symphonic Band was selected to perform at the National Concert Band Festival in March, 2016.  As only the 6th band in Colorado to have ever been accepted to perform, the Symphonic Band was proud to represent our school at this prestigious event.

Visual Arts

In visual arts, students of all levels are welcome and are engaged in a variety of high quality art programs and activities. Students can try a little of everything or focus their concentration on two dimensional, three dimensional, or graphic arts. We pride ourselves on helping all art students grow and many create high quality, award-winning art throughout the state and the nation. Year after year, the visual arts program brings home multiple Gold Key 1st place art awards through Colorado Scholastic Art Awards and National Scholastic Art Awards. Students have a wide range of opportunities to grow and develop their talents in National Art Honors Society, Advanced Placement Art, college credit art, and Adobe Certification.  Students taking Computer Graphic Design, Digital Photography or Commercial Art classes can earn industry-recognized certification through the Adobe Certified Associate program, proving their skills using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. Each year, approximately 50 students earn the Adobe Certified Associate certification.
