Meet the Math Department:
Ben Adams earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland and has been teaching math at Pine Creek since the fall of 2010. Since joining the staff, he has assisted with and is currently a coach in the boys' soccer program.

Chelsea Cornett is an Algebra 1, ALgebra 2, and Honors Precalculus teacher. She graduated from UCCS with a BA in mathermatics, and has been teaching at Pine Creek since 2017. In her free time, she enjoys reading, hiking, and traveling.

Rudilee Gabel has been a high school math teacher at Pine Creek High School since 2000. She has taught a variety of math courses over her career. Currently she is teaching Pre-calculus and Geometry. Mrs. Gabel is a part time teacher and I can be found at Pine Creek only on Green Days. She graduated from Colorado College in December 1999 with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics with an emphasis in Computer Science and later returned to Colorado College and received a Master's degree in Secondary Mathematics Education in August 2001. In February 2011, she completed her Doctoral Degree from University of Phoenix Online in Educational Leadership with a Specialization in Curriculum and Instruction. Rudilee was born and raised in Pueblo, is married to Billy Gabel, a PE Teacher and Head Wrestling Coach here at Pine Creek, and has three daughters and one son.
Karlie Goretski joined the staff at Pine Creek High School in 2019. She graduated from Michigan State University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, reading, coaching, sports, and CrossFit.

Keisha Hollins has been a teacher since the fall of 2000. She joined the Pine Creek High School math department in 2013. During her career, she has taught everything from Algebra to Calculus. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Northern Colorado and her Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix. When not teaching, Keisha enjoys reading, shopping, and watching movies. Keisha is married and has one daughter, Jalayah.

Jeff Keller has been teaching at Pine Creek since the fall of 2000. He has a BA in Mathematics, a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Graduate Certificate in Mathematics Education. Mr. Keller has coached boys' soccer and track and field, and is currently a girls' soccer coach. He currently teaches Geometry and Honors PreCalculus.
Brianne Mallery has taught Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Honors Algebra 2. She grew up in California where she earned her BS in Mathematics from Chapman University and her MS in Secondary Education from Cal State Fullerton. She taught 6 years in California before her family moved to Colorado in 2007. From 2007 until 2018 she helped run her family business and raise her four children. She joined the teaching staff at Pine Creek in 2018. When not teaching, she enjoys spending time with her family, working out, and practicing taekwondo.

Christy Nelson has been a math
teacher at Pine Creek since 2008.
Christy is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder where she
received her Bachelors' degree in math and minored in French. She spent a year teaching English at a French
high school before earning her Master's degree in Teaching at Colorado
College. During the summers, she often
teaches at a math camp out of state. In
her free time, she likes running, playing board games, and spending time with
her friends and family.

April Pierce joined the math department here at Pine Creek in the fall of 1999. She received her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics at Mesa State College in Grand Junction where she grew up, then moved to Colorado Springs to attend graduate school at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs where she earned her Master of Science in Mathematics and her certificate in Curriculum and Instruction. In addition to teaching, Mrs. Pierce sponsors our Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society. When not teaching she enjoys spending time with her husband, twin daughters and friends, taking care of the menagerie of animals she has at home, reading, camping, fishing and most anything else in the sunshine.

Brooke Sargent-Stanely is Co-coordinator of the Math Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) Program and teacher. She is a graduate of Middlebury College where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics. She later earned her Master of Arts degree in Curriculum and Instruction from UCCS. Prior to working at Pine Creek, Brooke was at times an ocean lifeguard in California, a full-time mom, a Navy reservist, and a middle school math teacher. She specializes in meeting students' unique needs to promote maximum learning and growth. When not teaching, she enjoys spending time with her family and wrangling her own children.
Kristiann Saunders joined the Pine Creek math department in the Fall of 2019. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Math from the University of Northern Colorado and her MPA from the University of Oklahoma. Kristiann has taught math around the world in middle school, high school, and college math classes. She loves reading, traveling, playing games, and eating ice cream.

Norm Sooy is a mathematics teacher. He completed four years in US Army before earning a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. After working twelve years in the technology sector, he earned a Masters of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. Mr. Sooy began teaching mathematics at Pine Creek High School in 2004.

Sandra Sparrow is a teacher in the math department. She has been teaching at Pine Creek since the 2005-2006 school year. Prior to her years at Pine Creek, she taught at high schools in Mississippi, California, and Missouri. She grew up in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and received her degree from William Carey University. Her family, which includes her husband and 2 daughters, moved to Colorado Springs in 1997. Her youngest daughter graduated from Pine Creek. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with her family.

Amy Ver Duft has been teaching for a very long time and still loves it. Her 29 years of experience include six years in Covina, California, two years in Middletown, California, eight years in Auburn, Washington and 13 years here at Pine Creek High School. While in college working on her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics at Washington State University, she discovered that she loved the French language also and ended up getting a degree in both Mathematics and French. She loves teaching in two very different departments! She and her husband will soon be celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary. Her son is recently graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Computer Science and Mathematics and her daughter is a student here at Pine Creek High School. In her spare time, she loves to travel, camp, take walks, read, watch the Seahawks and visit with friends and family.
