Art Department

Welcome to the Fine Arts Department

The mission of art education at PCHS is to enable students to explore various media and techniques which incorporate fundamental art concepts. Through technology, two-dimensional, and three-dimensional media, students will gain social, cultural, and historical awareness of art which will enable self-expression through the use of problem-solving and critical high-order thinking skills. Our goal is for students to acquire an appreciation and understanding of art and its place in their lives.

We believe that every student has the ability to create some amazing artwork, it is our job to find that ability and encourage creative growth.  Pine Creek Art prides itself on creating high quality visual artwork that goes outside the box of traditional art.  We want to offer every creative opportunity that we can, to every student who enrolls in a fine art class.  Students participate in a wide variety of local, state and national visual art competitions, and have been recognized for their unique creative visions.  College credit can be earned through AP art classes and a variety of graphic arts classes.  Students participating in graphics art classes can also earn industry certification through the Adobe Certified Associates program.

The Fine Arts Department is an amazing, fun place to be, and we can't wait to start creating with you!

Meet the Fine Arts Department

Texas Tech University logoTiffanie Davis -  I am the Graphics Art teacher. I graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Art Education (1996), and a Masters of Art Education (2000) with an emphasis inintegrating technology into the arts. My family moved here from West Texas 13 years ago, and we have absolutely loved Colorado. My husband and I have 2 teenagers that attend ASD20 schools. As a family, we enjoy spending as much time as we can in Mexico.

I have taught art from pre-K through college level, but high school has my heart! I have known that I wanted to be an artist and work in the visual arts since I was 3 years old, therefore art is my passion and my love. Graphic Arts became a passion for me when I was teaching in a tiny cotton farming town in West Texas.  My principal requested that I added a graphic arts class to my curriculum, and it took off like wildfire!

At Pine Creek, I teach Computer Graphic Design 1-2-3 (Adobe Photoshop), Commercial Art 1-2 (Adobe Illustrator), Digital Photography 1-2 (Adobe Photoshop), Computer Art 1-2 (Corel Painter), and Honors Portfolio Development.  My goal for each of my students is for them to learn how to visually communicate through technology.  I hope to share my passion for art with them, and I hope each of them make this world a better place to live in through their art.

Please visit the Graphic Arts website to see student artwork and celebrate our accomplishments!
Universty of Northern Colorado logoLindsay Mitchell - I have been part of the Pine Creek community since 2010. I am a Colorado Springs native and received my Bachelor's degree from the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) in 2009. I teach our 2D Art classes; Art 1 - Art 4, Honors and AP Studio. My department is small, but mighty; they are my mentors, my encouragement and most importantly, my friends. I teach a variety of elarners who remind me daily why teaching art is my profession: they push each other to excel, they encourage diversity and they remind me to not be so serious all of the time and play once in a while! Every day is a new adventure! To me, the most important lesson to learn is respect. When we respect ourselves, one another, the environment and what's been given to us we can learn, grow and express ourselves without worry. I strive to create an environment in which students feel confident and successful in their endeavors. With success comes determination; I want students to be determined to continue their art endeavors with a belief that there is much more to learn and improve on and have the confidence to try. Pine Creek is my home away from home and I am happy to share it with these wonderful students and my teammates.

Sarah Vaeth - I graduated from The Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design in 2017 with a Bachelors of Fine Art in Art Education and an emphasis in Ceramics. This is my first year at Pine Creek and I am so excited to be here. I am currently teaching Art 1, Sculpture 1, Sculpture 2, Ceramics 1, Ceramics 2 and Ceramics 3. My teaching philosophy is centered around cultivating a thoughtful community where we have respect for ourselves, each other, our studio, the work we create and the time we share. Please never hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns for me. Email is the best method of contact.
